I just ordered a couple boxes of factory hornady 175eld ammo for the 7 prc. Open the box and immediately noticed the raised outer ring on the base of the case. It sticks up a good 6-8 thou. More than likely going to cause some headspace issues and I can't imagine it's good for the accuracy department.

I've contacted hornady. They are looking into it. I'll let everyone know what they say.
I have not shot any of it yet. I don't think it's going to blow up any guns but it sure can't have any positive effects. That's even if you'd be able to get the bolt to close.

Does it chamber easily?

I have some 180 eldm ammo that is similar but my rifle isn't finished yet.

The 175 eldx ammo I have looks better, some have a "hint" of the raised edge and some don't. I only checked one box of each so there may be more than a few.

I got an email from hornady yesterday. All they said is they wanted my shipping info so they can send me some other ammo and that it must of "slipped" through inspections. They assumed it was just the one cartridge was like that. Not 2 full boxes of ammo. Sounds like they might have an issue on their hands if others are finding it as well.

I also have 5 boxes of the eldx and 2 boxes of the eldm.Im Waiting on my rifle build and have not shot any yet. I'm building a suppressor dedicated rig. Pierce Skele Ti action,20" proof sendero light,Hunt-Tac stock from Pendleton stocks at Oregunsmithing.I was curious how much that ridge was sticking up so I took 1 cartridge and used emery cloth on a flat surface to take the ridge down flush with the base. That ridge measures out to .002.
So my concern is head space. After fired 1 or 2 times most likely this ridge will flatten, thus increasing headspace. I planned on giving my smith a few cartridges to use for setting the headspace because I'm not going with a prefit barrel. And yes these things look like they tumbled them with gravel lol.
I will be hand loading and really would prefer some Adg or Lapua brass. I still have about 4 months before my rifle build is done,so I'm hoping buy then there be brass available.
I will be calling Hornady also to see what they have to say.

I'm curious as to how and where you are getting your orders for Hornaday ammo as I have had my new 7PRC for several months now and can't seem to find loaded ammo or brass to reload anywhere. Can you give me a place where I can find at least a box or two of 7PRC ammo?
