The .257 -WHICH CARTRIDGE???

I want a 25SST, preferably Bart 3b or any CFW barrel at 22-24". Bat Bumblebee is on my list for my next build. If you check those boxes I'll buy it when you get bored…..
Sounds like a winner. Sherman ShortMag Tactical 30 Degree shoulder SA. Pushing a 130gr around 3.300fps. There is a long thread on LRH about the 25 SST

Have to research the availability of brass and components. Definitely looks like a great cartridge and can be fitted into a light weight hunting stock. Changing my thought process for sure.
Thanks Plowboy

Len I think you are on the right track with the 25-08. I think an 06' based case would be better but if you already have all the 260rem stuff around then a 25souper/ 25-08 makes more sense.

For the near future my wildcat cartridge considerations will be "NATO" based or creedmoor/PRC based. For the sole reason of finding components. I'd love to do a 25wsm on a long action but WSM brass is very hard to find.
have lots of WSM brass if you need it.

I like WSMs. Jill has a 270WSM and I a 325WSM. We only use for hunting so low round count. What WSM Brass do you have?
A 25WSM would really push a 133gr bullet.
The 25SST looks like a real winner. Just concerned on component availability.
We already have all the components to build a 25 Super or 25X284 - just need reamers.
Will figure out something with everyone's help. Still have all the components in boxes for another six builds + before we start this one.
We do like to have all the components in place before we start the build. That way after the last screw/bolt is torqued, we have ---ammo to start shooting.
Semper Fi!
Thanks
Len & Jill

Yeah you probably have to get with Rich on the brass, but I think it would be a winner. I was going to build one before I found out about the Blackbird. Hell who knows the way I love the 25cal I just still might.

I will have to check, but around 300-400 pcs of mostly 270 WSM brass

Rich should have 25sst brass I just got 100 rounds from him two weeks ago.

Will have to do a lot of research on the 25 SST. Don't want to get in a situation where you have to get components from one supplier

We lost a lot of our savings in IRA and 401K since Jan 2022 as all of us did and needed more $$$ to finish the new Shop. On top of that the SCS in my neck spine didn't work. well just setbacks. We have 10 Barrels and five different calibers to chamber. Now purchasing the bulk .257 bullets put us into another fix. Need to purchase all the components for the bullet. Never did that before.
Just found out that the Neuro Surgeon is going to operate on my C-2 to C-7 to do some grinding on my spinal bones and implanting metal electronics. LAST OPTION for me so i hope it works even a little, Will then finish the shop, Start Chambering/Threading Barrels. Options to Cerakote - Engraving and maybe Flute Barrels.
HIGH HOPES TO GET ME body brain MOVING AND BEING USFULL. (can't wait)
Good luck Sir, I wish you the best of luck and prayers. My wife had back surgery and it was a last option thing. She is much better from it.

Here's another one, 135gr Berger going 2940 from 25 creedmoor at 535 yards. He was feeding between open patches in timber at sunset and I wanted to anchor him so I put it through high shoulder and dumped him on the spot. I watched the impact easily through my scope (no muzzle break needed). Great terminal performance no exit, bang flop drama free. Love my 25 creed!

Darn nice Muley. IMPRESSED for sure!!!
Thanks for the story and picture,
Yep those Creeds can harvest anything, but it all comes down to the hunter and commanding where the bullet will end up.
