How many shots to gather speed

Ok what everyone's magic number to get speed for the rifle?
I've always done between 5-10 depends on what I'm doing and components. What everyone else do. I lean towards 10 so my average speed is more consistent.

I can usually get my data with five shots. I will reverify later on in the year when it is opposite in temps to see what the difference is.

I should say I do shoot another 5 shot before I go on a hunt as part of my practice and just to double check and verify speed.
I'm talking more about initial speeds for software inputs.

5 before panic, and we'll haven't had much of a chance so i just load for accuracy since all this mess started

I shoot 2 just to get a reference and then true up with my ballistic calculator. By the time I am at this point the load is already proven good enough that any velocity deviation is just noise.

At least 10, 20 is better and real statistical data starts at 30.
You don't have to do this in ONE SITTING, you can do it over a few shooting sessions.
If I test at 300 and 600 for average group size, I also use the chrony to get speed data on different days to see if anything changes.
If you just want quick reference points then 5-10 will suffice.

I'm at 50 for my 300 prc and 78 for the 28 nosler. Over months and different temps. I like this as I feel very confident in my data.

I normally chronograph / Labradar all my shots on targets, so I continuously add to my MV data pool at various temps.
Tweek MV in my ballistics program as appropriate, over time.

What I do is 10 shots then throw out the highest and the lowest add them all together devide by 8

I keep my chronograph set up throughout the process of all my group shooting and verifying at various ranges. I take note of the cold barrel vs warm barrel velocities. The more data collected the better IMO.

I'm 5-10 shots, and will check velocity every few hundred rounds or a change in components/lots.

3-5 depending on how good the load develops. I don't do more because I am almost always going to have to true up the velocity and BC for my data to match actual rifle performance at distance.
