I Hate Hammer Bullets!

Personally, my likes and dislike for any bullet I shoot are related totally to the particular rifle I'm shooting them in. For example, I had a 6.5 PRC (CA\ELR 26" carbon) that rejected every weight, (proper twist rated) Hammer Bullet that I tried. It liked Bergers, and really like AccuBond's. I don't know why? I tried every trick presented and they just wouldn't group. The same Hammer bullets in my 26 Nosler (w/the same twist) shot perfectly! Again, I don't know why? So for me, if my rifle of the day "dislikes" a particular bullet, so do I. And if my rifle of the day "loves" a particular bullet, so do I!

I think they cost too much
This is reasonable. If I may ask. Compared to what? I can say that our raw material is more expensive than it could be if we used a lesser quality product, but really the greatest factor in bullet price is time. The amount of time it takes to produce a bullet, not counting cleaning, packing, and shipping, it takes about 20 seconds to take raw material and turn it into a single bullet. Cup and core or formed bullets can be produced at tremendously faster rates. I guess it is the nature of cnc lathe turned bullets. Now because they are cnc lathe turned we can hold a .0002" tolerance. Also because they are cnc lathe turned we can make our patented radius drive bands. These radius drive bands cured the issue of copper bullets having too much pressure in tight bor guns and terrible accuracy in loose bore guns.

I don't use your bullets, but have nothing against them and will never berate anyone for using them. I may however poke them for a little good natured fun from time to time. It would be fun to try some light ones in a 260, but honestly I wouldn't pay the price of admission. More options are always better though IMHO.

To me it seems most of the animosity for Hammers is the same type a lot of people have for anything CM. As mentioned already people get tired of the fan boys bringing them up at every opportunity.

It doesn't mean Hammers aren't great bullets, but it also doesn't mean they are the end all, do all bullet either. There are a lot of good bullets out there.

I wish you and your company continued success.

I don't use Hammer bullets, but the user group does seem to be pretty rabid and decisive. Any criticism is met swiftly and passionately by the fans of the bullet. I like Nosler, I've used them for years, and I'm comfortable with their performance of the BTs and the ABs. But I don't chime in on every bullet discussion like a born-again reloader and preach Nosler's benefits. I think that is what gets weary. I have to say that Hammer and Steve's level of customer service is probably the top in the industry. But I think this thread is just stirring the pot unnecessarily ..

I am sure that I have stirred a pot now and again. I am not here on this thread to stir any pots. I created this thread to take head on the hate and discontent for me and my company. I don't want to see anymore blatantly "sneaky" posts and threads that are being made in the name of information. When in fact they are being made to try and detract from Hammers. Most of us are not stupid. It is not hard to see what is happening. Frankly I will take it as a badge of honor. I remember in 2007 when I first joined this site. The same thing was going on with Berger. There was the Berger "Fan Boys" and those that didn't like them or the product because of the folks that loved the Bergers.

So far this thread is going as I expected. The actual instigators or haters of Hammer Bullets are silent. We will see if continue to pretend they are above the fray. Bring the complaints. I will address them as best I can.

Remember guys, I don't want support in this thread. It will just cause a fight.

i stopped following because if you post anything negative your fans want to rip your fingers off and if you post anything positive the other side comes for you. there is never any useful info to come out just over the top back and forth. maybe if your lucky and can sift 20 pages of garbage you might find 1-2 useful posts it just is not worth it

So you didn't read Steve's request any did the very thing you said you don't like. Anyway enjoy your year.

My biggest issue with hammer bullets would probably be the price as well. Do I think they are over priced? No way, seems to be the going rate for a copper bullet. I can't argue with what they are capable of but I don't think for what I do they would make much of a difference. I'm not going to bash them as I haven't put them to the test. I recently purchased a box of them from a member on here at a discounted price to give them a try. I'm excited to see what they can do. I don't believe I will continue to shoot them as they are more than double the bullets I shoot now. I'm willing to give them a try, who knows they might change my mind after load development. I appreciate what you guys bring to the table with you research and new developments. I have emailed Steve with questions and was answered very quickly. Can't say that to much about other businesses, customer service is also important and I was satisfied.

In light of neither of us cooperating with Steve's request please explain your reasoning.
