What'll you be carrying for spring bear?

375 Ruger custom built on a Rem 700 I did a while back originally had a 24 inch barrel if I get my act together it will have a 20 inch barrel. Granted a 375 is not needed for black bears but it is nice to almost guarantee two hole of decent size from any angle on any sized black bear.

This is all assuming Canada allows us Yanks cross the border or make bear hunting an essential activity, think about the explosion in black bear population if we are not allowed across the border to hunt bears a second year in a row. The bears will be so numerous that children and pets wil not be safe even in urban areas, scary to think about. So those of you who call Canada home should contact your lawmakers to let us across to stop this potential huge problem.

I am just trying to do my part one bear at a time, this year;'s bear hopefully will be a northern Saskatchewan bruin, I am booked for a hunt with Tower outfitters on Dore Lake. I was booked at same last year but we all know what happened.

Does anyone know about how the whitetail hunting is in that area of Saskatchewan? I ask about the whitetial because the outfitter also has whitetail hunts and I was thinking that if I don't get across for bear hunting maybe try the outfitter for whitetail.

Thanks

If I was going tomorrow, I'd probably take my Weatherby vanguard accuguard in 30/06 with a Leupold vx5 shooting factory 180gr superformance ammo at 2,850 fps. I've got a safe full of more expensive rifles, but I never mind dragging that thing through moderate brush or a little rain. A scratch here or there doesn't bother me. It is very accurate, not too heavy, and it kills reliably. This may end up being another year that I don't get in on a spring bear hunt.
