Marks on bullet. What is going on here?!?!

I'm not sure about your CA rifle manual but in mine on page 6 states use of handloaded ammo voids all warranty. I tried factory nosler ammo and out of 3 boxes was able to close the bolt on less than half of the rounds. The ones that did shoot showed signs of pressure. As I said earlier I won't be contacting CA to have my gun fixed. I prefer competent gunsmith.

So you are saying that all these same issues are because Christensen says to "load less" powder in handloads and not shoot factory ammo? Not buying it.
No, I am NOT saying that, LOL. I'm Saying, Most people that buy a custom barrel have a specific purpose for that build. That determines what kind of chamber you need, for what caliber specific Reamer used, and machinist magic,
when they ream your chamber. "Do you want a tight chamber or a loose chamber, do you want a longer free bore chamber or shorter free bore chamber." Most people don't take any of what I just said into consideration when buying a barrel from a barrel maker. When you buy that barrel, the rest falls on you and your gun smith assembling your rifle. Me, I would buy a blank, Take it to a competent Gun Smith/Machinist. Select the best bolt Action That I could afford and have him create and Marry them together and use the reamer that cut my chamber.,, Have them cut my custom sizing die with it.. Other than that, you peeing in the wind on a custom rifle build. That's Just Me.
Oh, the short answer to your question is. Most SAAMI ammo will not fit custom chambers, you have to modify them. "CASES" As Far as Christensen telling you to load less, They may be telling you that you have a very tight chamber and due to your Reloaded Ammo you are hitting high pressure nodes. That makes sense to me. "100%" " You might want to go to a slower burning powder also." The marks on your cases kind of confirms what I'm Trying to explain to you. SAAMI AMMO will not fit your Custom Barrel chamber, in SOME custom barrels, especially if has a tight chamber.. SAAMI AMMO is intended to be shot in all fire arms that meet SAAMI guide lines. That means they have a bigger chamber, that means there is more room for the brass to expand in the chamber." lower pressure" In the tighter chamber there is less room for the brass to expand and that causes higher pressures with hotter loads. " Kind of like thick wall brass verses thin wall brass". Get the pitcher now. I'm not saying this is your case at ALL. It's still a 50/50. Due to reviews on this company and your post, I just as well, will stay away from them. I'm Lucky, I'm just a skip and a hop from Whidden GunWorks. What he says, will be done.
Please let us know what the final out come of this mess is, I hate it for you, it bites.
** One important Thing. Don't get Velocity and Pressure mixed up. There two different Beast.**

But it should shoot SAAMI ammo at safe/normal pressures. You get the same issues with new cases, there is a problem. According to Christensen "be happy at lower charges", factory ammo could cause problems and it "should" be designed to shoot factory ammo.

If you handload, you can "down load" per Christensen's guidance, but that is not a right answer either.

OP. Maybe you could write a review from all your experience with this and Len would post it. I bet Christensen would make it right then!!!
Oh I totally agree! Should not be having these issues.

Christensen called me this morning. They said they talked with their head gunsmith and that this is normal. Said I could send it back in to them to look at if I wanted to but said it was normal. Am I getting the run around?

Have you checked the ejector holes in the bolt face for a burr? There was a run of them with very sharp edges on the holes, that little burr will give you ejector swipes like you are seeing.

I haven't looked closely at that. I will now, but I've had the same bolt in the rifle since I've owned it and I didn't get swipe (a couple hundred factory rounds) until it came back with the new barrel.

My point exactly. I would not classify these as custom if they require you to use factory ammo. It's a question of Q/C or attention to detail or lack of both.

Thats reamer chatter. Someone. Allowed the tool to be out of square in their fixture... recut the leade or polish it. Seen it. On stuff as big as engine bores. Where the. Tool gets a very slight. Out of square. And. Harmonizes in that exact look. Where each flute. Chattered the next cut. Was either spun to fast for the worn tool. Or. Didnt get perfectly square and. Allowed to flex

Ok guys. Sent it back to CA and just got their report. This is what they did:
1. CLEANED AND INSPECTED RIFLE.
2. REPLACED BOLT AND HEADSPACED A NEW (SA STANDARD BOLT).
3. REPLACED STOCK BECAUSE THERE WAS A VOID AT THE REAR OF THE STOCK. (INSTALLED A NEW ELR SA BLK W/ GRY STOCK).
4. ASSEMBLED RIFLE AND TEST FIRED RIFLE WITH HORNADY PRECISION HUNTER 143 GR ELD-X. (NO ISSUES OCCURRED).
5. CLEANED AND DID A FINAL INSPECTION ON RIFLE.

What do y'all think?
