Nate hunted hard with me in the back 40 all weekend and at 4:30 PM eastern today, put a 115 Nosler through the lungs of this nice central MD whitetail at 170 yards. His first buck. Here he is. If you can see the rifle leaning against the pine in the background, it's my Cooper Jackson Game in .25-06. A rifle that I will hand off to him someday in hopes that the cycle will continue. I've been waiting 14 years for this. God smiled on both of us today!

Congratulations to you and your son from a fellow Marylander ! My son just sent me a picture of the bullet casing that he used to take his first buck on youth day back in 2010. Your sons smile in that picture is worth a million dollars. What a way to start !

Nate has the brass from the one shot kill - one of Dad's reloads. That piece of brass is retired and will become a keepsake for the memory. Thanks!

Same here but a word of caution teach him to reload because I got a bunch of brass handed to me by my wife last night. My son needs ammo! Lol

Oh yeah, I've got him at the bench already, resizing and checking measurements. This is a very good way to give him a sense of methodical discipline and the importance of paying attention to detail. He put that Nosler right where it needed to go and don't think for a minute I haven't reminded him that he hit the Mark due to some careful reloading by his Old Man!

Getting these youngsters in the woods is what it's all about for sure . In my opinion . Our season opens Monday morning it'll be me my 2 sons one of their cousins and one of their buddies. The boys have all outgrown hunting right there with dad but it's still great hearing their gun shot and hearing them on the radio .

And I agree 110 % about getting them in the reloading room . The cousin that will be with us Monday morning came up last evening and reloaded him some more 30-06 before next week with my supervision.
