7mm-300 PRC

Mine has .260. Little long for the 180 hybrids but good for most others. I settled on a lower node of 3070 with 184's and 24" barrel and H1000. Shoots good. I did what I always try not to, got it shooting good before barrel speed up. Now I just need to back it down.

Any updates on the 7-300 PRC?
I'd like to hear about the case forming process.
I use a redding type S FL bushing die, used a 325 bushing in the die to size most the neck, then used a cheap rcbs 7 saum fl die to size all the way to the shoulder. Expanded with a 282 mandrel. Load and shoot after that. I'm still waiting for my dang gun, been a long build process!

Thats what I'm talking about. The 6.5 PRC is garbage. No idea why they shortened it.
Yeah they shortened the 375 rug for 338/300rcm. Then the rcm became 6.5 prc. I do like the 6.5 prc. It's a great case for 14X class bullets. McWhorter does a 7prc on the 6.5 parent and supposedly they're getting 3000 fps w/ 180 hybrids, Jeezuz must be running 80k psi to do that with a 71gr case.

So close to the 7 practical I don,t see any sense in it. But if your cash is burning a hole in your pocket go for it!!! Splitting hairs. When Layne brought out the stw I got itchy and had to have one. Had it built in 89. After using it some I thought. This would be better in the Win case.Which is basically the old mashburn super mag or the 7 practical. I will admit I like the 28 nosler. Shoots a hole and fast but in time I still think the 7 practical is best. Not quite as fast as the nosler but burns a lot less powder. Balance. I built a few 300 prc,s for guys. Better than a proper throated 300 win? I do like the longer neck and 30 degree shoulder better but as for speed? Individual barrel will make or break it. To get back to the 7 practical. It has a 30 degree shoulder and with shooting a few times the neck grows to the length it is supposed to be.

I didn't want the 103gr cap of the 28N. 7 prac requires custom dies no? The 7-300prc requires no custom dies, has a nice long neck, low taper, non belted, no rebated rim, 95-95gr capacity. So it's smack between 7prac and 28N. I think it'll be a winner. I went with a 22" barrel in prep for supressor. All I want is 3000fps w/ 180s.

Dave Manson has practical dies in stock. As far as the belted versus non belted I have never had a problem. But we all know this is a monkey see monkey do game. If the prc route is what you want I wish you luck!!

The RCM's were doomed from the start. The .532 body can't compete with the .555 on the WSM/SAUM. Then Nosler stretched the WSM (or shortened the RUM) a little and called it revolutionary.

I think you're definitely on to something building a 7-300 prc, 3000 with a 180 will be easy I'm getting that in a 22" wsm with RL26.
And with lapua brass on the way.. you're gonna have brass that lasts forever.
Please keep us updated when you start load development.
