Marines getting another sniper rifle platform

My kid carried what I thought he said was there sniper rifle, about year half ago.Think it was a 300 wm,that weighed about 14# and had I think mark 4 scope.Ill have pick his brain

According to the article, it'll fire 308, 300nm and 388 Norma mag.
Yeah I thought that was pretty interesting. I suppose that it could be used for training with 308 extensively & economicaly and then screw one of the larger chambered barrels on later for follow up training & service.

I wish I had all of those tax dollars to spend . You can have 4 custom rifles for the price of one of those. And why have 3 calibers when one will do it all. The .308 is an antique and compared to 6.5 cartridges like the 6.5x47, 6.5 Creedmoor, 6.5 PRC, etc. it gets blown out of the water. Not sure why they still play around with that. I also see no point in having a 300 Norma and 338 Norma. Just pick one. Load the 300 Norma with 215 or 230 Berger's or the 338 with 300 Berger's. Need less rifle for short range work? Then use an AR10 platform chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor like has already been accepted by Special Operations. They could also just rebarrel all of their current rifles to 300 PRC or 300 Norma and get a small bump in performance. They could make it 338 Norma as well. It's built on a Stiller action so it should be able to handle the Norma/Lapua Mag cases. If not, then just chamber it in 300 PRC or 338 RUM or Edge. No sense in replacing all of those rifles. Makes no sense.

Custom builders offer a 1/2 moa guarantee on most rifles in the $5-6k range. Just wondering what kind of guarantee would be on those barrets
It's a Barrett. They're paying for a name. Contract top smiths in the country to build them a rifle with a AI chassis, Bartlein barrel, threaded muzzle, custom action or trued Remington, Nightforce rings and base with a Nightforce scope. Chamber it in .300 PRC or .338 Edge. They'll have $6k in each one, but they'll shoot one hole and be effective to a mile.
