Sizing help needed

I'm with new to mud, I had the same problem with my Savage 12 6 Dasher. I would take a case that does fit, use a 9 mm case over the neck and measure the OAL....then do the same thing with one of the "oversized" cases...compare the length....the 9mm case seems to be close to the diameter of the datum line on the neck.... might be the shoulder isn't bumped back enough....also, if you have a micrometer or caliper, measure just above the extractor groove , and compare the #s worth a try, may or may not be the problem...fixed my problem when I couldn't resize to fit...rsbhunter

New chamber/gun, buy new brass. My type S die in 243 works great. Brass life , 22 loadings so far. 1 cracked neck.

New brass is the way to go....alleviates a lot of problems..anymore, there are so many great high quality brass makers....New calibers get expensive....dies, brass, etc....but does away with headaches...rsbhunter

You full size die or your body die really should be able to size your brass correctly with that Redding "Competition" shell holder set. I use that to resize a lot of military brass that had been shot in loose machine guns and I never had a problem.
Have you measured you fired factory brass with a comparator against your resized brass?

Gents, I mentioned it earlier. with this die combo you need to apply generous force to the die. Simply touching off shell holder to die is not enough because the process is "springy". You gotta set the press up for max force and send it Home smartly.

Get an RCBS full length sizing die and some Hornady Dry Lube spray. Spray the casing lightly all around making sure you get the neck, shoulder and inside the neck lubricated. Screw the die down snugly to the face of your reloader ram then back off the ram and turn the die in another 1/4 turn. It should resize completely over the bottom of the case. After you shoot your full length loads then you should be able to reload those cases with your neck sizing die.
Good Luck!

I am not saying you are even remotely wrong here, but the first piece of advice the OP should have gotten, was to determine just why the transferred brass does not fit in the new chamber. All our comments are gray noise until that is known, mine included.

First post says it was brass fired in a different gun. I have the same issue in the same cartridge. I load for two savages and a tikka. .008 difference between the two but both in spec. I bought the body die for the same reason and I had the same issue. I believe the directions that come with the die allude to the issue but are not clearly worded to jump out at you. I had to read them twice.

Or resize it more that once. This is a problem with 50 BMG, you need to run it through the resizing die more that once to make sure it is sized correctly.

as mentioned, first determine where it's sticking in the chamber by colouring the case with a sharpie...

if, it's a length from case head to shoulder problem, try the feeler gauge/shim stock between shell holder and case head when sizing...

So the body die in the redding set doesnt provide a full length sizing? Wish I would have known that before I bought the darn thing...just got it for the ability to change neck bushings but so far I'm not really enjoying anything about it

Yes it will full length size the case BUT will not resize the neck.
Other than that it will do what a FL die does!
