7mm LRM 180 Berger Hybrids

Anyone know how these perform on Whitetail deer size game ? My son just purchased one and wants to hunt deer with it. His rifle shoots them at 3,037 fps and shoots them very good. I know the 140 vlds work well but think the hybrids have a thicker jacket so not sure if they expand well or not.
168's are accurate and leave large exit wounds. 180 VLD is awesome but are sensitive to seating deapth. Hybrid should be more forgiving .

What cartridge in 7mm is pushing a 180 at 3300 fps. Cause I want one?[/QUOTE]

before the coolaid hit and all the really cool kids new more about the 28 nolser than anyone else LOL, I caught wind of the 26 nolser coming out and its case size and so on I had a reamer drawn up in 284, had the rifle built and waited for the brass to drop! It had a bartlein 9 twist 28" defiance action and with measly ole retumbo it would clock a 180 hybrid @3309fps and was stupid stupid accurate. (((God that was a little bit ago))

I have a Gunwerks rifle in 7mm LRM and it shoots lights out with the 180 grain hybrids at 2997fps. Have taken Whitetail, Mule Deer, Elk, Wild Hogs and coyotes from 200- 600 yards with them and they worked flawlessly.

I get that the brass from Hornady is not the most consistent but I don't believe I have missed an animal yet because of the brass.

Well I dont want a 28" anything but in a 26" barrel I wonder if the 7 rum could do that. But seems like a lot of bad press about overboar and short life out of a barrel. I just didnt think it could do that kind of performance. Interesting

My son has the same and that rifle shoots crazy accurate with the hybrids.

it is and it likes barrel steel but with the better powders and such now I don't think it would be an issue in a 26" @3300

That's the problem with the junk brass, 180s @ 3000fps is the limit on pressure before you start losing primers. I still have a pile of brass and whidden dies, hell even some loaded ammo from my old rifle built by TS Customs. 3k is achievable with 7mag, 7mm wby, 7mm blaser, 7mm wsm, granted all these cases are running higher pressure to get it, but the better brass choices can handle it. Adg will be making 300 prc brass Q1 2020, maybe a neck down, long shoulder bump and trim will equal good brass, but that's a lot of **** work to get good brass. I personally am going to try sippin on some the Sherman kool-aid, with a 7mm sherman max, it's a 7 saum with very little taper and a 40° shoulder, 78gr capacity and can push 195s @ 3k at pressure with N570. I hope to get 180s @ 3k with an accuracy node.

They drop deer like Thor's Hammer but I have yet to see one exit. Granted all hits have resulted in "DRT" so no tracking required but no exit for what it's worth.
