Hello to all.
Has anyone worked up a load using Rel 23 in a modern 6.5x55 Swede that they can share with me please. I am trying to find a start load using RWS brass, Fed 210M primers and hopefully a Sierra
130 grain Game Changer (TGK). This will be used in a Carl Gustaf Model 3000, this is the same as a Colt Sauer or Sauer Model 90. All help will be appreciated.

My Sierra Sixth Edition shows RE 19 and RE 22 being used with the 140 g bullets but no RE 23. Their test rifle also was a 96 Swedish Mauser with 29.5" barrel and 8.5 twist. For some reason they don't even list the 130 g bullet in the 55 Swede

Funny you should mention that as I bought a copy of their Version 6 hoping that the info I was after was there. In the preamble for the 6.5x55 it even mentions the Game Changer and how it would suit the 6.5x55.

morning depending on bullet weight, 4064, 4831, W760, 4320.
about does it. very good caliber and cartridge.
move over creedmore. justme gbot tum

Quick Losd shows 2923fps in a 24 inch barrel. That is with RL23 and a pressure of 55000psi. Not sure what pressure a modern rifle can handle as that seems low to me. I forgot to mention that was with a 130gr Accubond. Start 10% lower and see what you can get. I hope this helps you some.

Hi WildBillG, thank you for the info. CIP state 55145 psi as the max for this cartridge so you are bang on. Is there a chance that you could please tell me what weight that load in QuickLoad is so I can reduce it 10% for my starting load?

I'd probably call Sierra and Alliant to see if their ballistics lab tried RL23 with the 130gr Gamechanger. They may give you some guidelines on a load.

I just poked around a little and saw the data on alliants website. They have a load at 41.5 for a 140 gameking yielding 2500ish that load must be must be for the krag, I have a huskym-96 and load it to 2700 fps with rl22, in the the 45-46 grain area. As far as rl 23 I would start with alliants load of 41.5 and work up. Assuming you are familiar with pressure signs

48-49 grains should be a good starting point but will be soft. A buddy and I worked up a load in his 6.5x55AI with him getting over 3k fps with 140gr class bullets. He's way over 50gr though.

EDIT: THIS IS A MODERN GUN LOAD. PUT THIS IN A SMALL RING MAUSER AND YOU MIGHT JUST HAVE A BAD DAY.

start at 45.0 RL-23 max will be around 50.0 that is using 130 sierra tmk at 3.1 coal.
rws brass is known to be thick so check your case capacity. I was using the default of 57.0 capacity. you might need a drop tube with that brass
