Just bought a Sako 85 Bavarian Carbine (20") barrel. 1-8 twist

Not a super longrange set up , I have a 6.5 Weatherby for that.

Anyone want to share their "go to" pet load for the Swede? I have a variety of 6.5 bullets and suitable powders.

Thanks !!gun)

Mine is a stainless Ruger #1A (22" bbl) here is my hunting load.
6.5×55 , 125 NOSLER PARTITION , CASE FED TRIMMED TO 2.160 , PRIMMER CCI LR, POWDER RL-19 @ 48.00gr, OAL 3.00, SUB MOA, EX HUNTING.
Velocity was close to 3000fps, I was getting just over 3000 with H4350 but not as accurate, and W760 was giving me less vel. and accuracy. I have taken 5 or 6 deer with this load, very little bloodshot meat and quick clean kills. Sorry about the caps., I just copy and pasted from excel.

140 Berger Hunting VLD
48.3 H4831sc
Fed 210
Laupa brass
shoots .2 to .1
No pressure signs in my gun.

For my daughters 700 Classic I found Privi 139 sp for $9.99 a box.

Tag. Beginning to work up a load for my benchmark built 6.5x55 with 130&140 hvlds and wouldn't mind a few different options.

Out of my Carl Gustav 6.5x55 carbine (18" barrel) ...

Great shooting FEENIX!

6.5x55 SE is a great choice. I currently shoot an M96 made in 1910 and a modern chamber rifle built on a Savage 110 action.

For Varmints and stuff.

107gr Sierra Match King
40.5gr IMR 3031
Fast, flat, accurate and deadly on varmints.

IMR 3031: Other than with Vintage Military shooters that shoot the M96, this powder is not listed much for the Swede. The Sierra V Manual is the only reloading book I have that has a listing for it with light bullets. Since you have a short barrel, I would also consider you try Varget with bullets up to 140gr. H380 is another powder I have had good results with in bullets up to 123gr.

For deer size game.

123gr Hornady Amax
44.9gr V-160
Have had some "screamer groups" with this load.

Thanks! Mine is a surplus 1894M. I was just trying to establish a baseline load. Got lucky and left it as-is. :D

No further load dev't. :)

My go to hunting loads are with Accurate 4350. With 120 gr Sierra SP or Nosler BT 46 gr. in a Rem case with Fed 210M primer loaded at 3.050 or 45 grs with 140 gr Sierra Sp or Hornady Interlock case and primer and OAL same as 120s. Out of my M96 Swede sported rifle which I left the 29" barrel alone the 120s do 3000 fps and 140s do 2800. Not sure what the velocity was out of a friends M94 Swede with 18" barrel but they sure were accurate. These are max loads for the small ring Mauser according to Accurate so they are under 46000 CUP. I would say that the 120s should have been in the 2700 to 2800 fps range and 140 2500 fps or so.

In my stainless howa 1500 I'm using 46 gr of reloader 22 with an average velocity of 2560 getting .4" groups with 140gr amax, they do wonders on deer.
