I have an RCBS case trimmer that is supposed to work for 50 BMG, 416 Barrett, and 408 Cheytac. Problem is the pilot for the .408 is too large. RCBS sent me a replacement and that one was too large as well. Anybody know of a company that makes trim pilots that are the correct size to trim 408 with?

Thank You

unsized brass? what is the part number on the pilot they sent you

sand it down till is does fit or an expander mandrel , what diameter is your brass

maybe size your brass first than use a 40 or 41 pilot

It says "41"

I did size it first and it still did not fit. Would using a 40 have any detrimental effect?

i would think that the .410 may have worked on presized fired brass -- if it did not , i would chuck it up in a cordless and sand down until it did fit ( lathe would be better )

id say its better if the pilot fits snug , but i dont think you see too much problems with the .401 size -- since your now sized brass inner diameter is probably at about .405-.407 anyways
