Hello guys.

I want to begin in the F-class at 600 and 900 yards, but I must say it is only for fun, I don't expect to win anything. I have a Remington 700 milspec 5R (I hope this rifle is enought), but I need a scope. ¿What cheap scope do you recommend for a begginer? As I said, I don't hope to win anything, it is only for fun, but I need something good enought to not make a fool of myself.

thank you

I don't shoot comps, but I have 2 of those rifles (24" .308 Win & 26" .300WM), I have the same setup on both... EGW HD 20MOA bases, Seekins Precision low rings, and a Vortex Viper HS-T 6-24x50 MRAD scope.

SWFA should have all of it in stock. https://swfa.com

What cartridge is your rifle chambered for?

Burris XTR2 8-40 is setup for F class. There is some used ones floating around with mounts for about 1000$ on the Facebook scope trader sites.

Be wary of buying a high magnification scope of lesser quality. The mirage will ruin all that magnification.
The xtr would be a good one.
I would also look at sightron s3 scopes or a leupold vx3 lrp as other good options for what you want to do
I have no experience with vortex scopes

It is good to be able to actually see the 'X' when shooting target shooting at 600 yards. You need about a 32X power scope to be able to do that.

The Sightron III 8-32x 56mm is another excellent scope for F-class. They are in the $1000 price range. They come with 1/4 or 1/8 MOA turrets and illuminated or not. The Sightron III scopes have Japanese glass and are a good value for price.

Thank you very much! That's perfect.

Only one question, do you think the Vortex 4-24x50 Strike Eagle 30mm Rifle Scope is not good enough?
It would work, and it looks like a solid scope for the money, but glass and lens coating quality will definitely not be the same. According to Vortex, the Strike Eagle uses the same glass as the cheaper Diamondback HP scopes, while the Viper HS-T uses glass from the Viper PST ($800-$1,000) scopes. Also, the HS-T has a zero-stop setup so you can easily return back to zero, and the Strike Eagle does not.

I'm not a scope snob in the least. But I would recommend to not skimp on F-Class glass.
For one, you are handicapped right out of the gate. Once you start shooting you'll see the other guys using F class specific equipment and you'll be discouraged and probably quit and never go back after a few sessions. I would look into other comps like Sniper matches, where you're equipment choices are more matched.

Don't know what your budget is but you can NEVER EVER go wrong with a Nightforce NSX. You can find some used ones for good deals (especially if you don't require a zero-stop). Repeatability is fantastic, glass is better than the Viper line, and the eye box is second to none.

Also the Sightron SIII Line is a good option. Eye box is not equal to Nightforce but glass is great and repeatability is fantastic as well.

Good Luck
