I have witnessed coyotes killing many full grown healthy deer. This is not a rare thing in my area. During January, February, and March I think they make up nearly 100% of the coyotes diet. We have lost 75% of our deer herd over the last 8 years partially due to poor game laws allowing way to many does to be harvested. Our dnr has been refusing to accept the herd numbers for too long, but now they have to admit it. What angers me is the fact that during deer season the woods are full of hunters but only 10% of them ever go coyote hunting. Wealthy city people have bought up too much of the wooded land to hunt deer. Now the locals can no longer deer hunt on that property, but the locals are the only ones trying to control the coyotes.
