New Shooter,
No i haven't finished the super light weight rifles yet. One action (stainless) is completed and the Ti action is in the works. Stocks are in and just waiting on the carbon barrels from ABS. The rifle with the stainless action will be a little heavier than that of the rifle with the Ti action. Both rifles are full length actions, they will eject a loaded round. Some weight can be reduced by using a shorter action, only draw back is you have to release the bolt to remove a loaded shell.
These two rifles are going to be single shots. I have built one single shot and three repeaters to date. Repeaters are a bit heavier due to the added parts needed. My actions are made with small loading ports and the magazine well is small as possible, i don't see any problem on long range hunting accuracy with a repeater over single shot. These actions are pretty stout at 1.600" dia. All of these have proved under 1 moa groups at 1000yds. A single shot action should be stronger due to no mag well cut, but i didn't see any difference in grouping. My repeaters have been getting groups 6-8" at 1000yds, under hunting conditions, Bi-pods, prone, ect. Summer testing in the Wyo mountains produced some good results, there was a gusty 20-30mph cross wind, groups were 7-12" all had horizontal spreads. All shots were on the horizontal line. I was surprised on how well the 300mk bucked the wind. My load for this test was right at 3350fps.
I am working on an internal magazine system that might cut some more weight from the rifle, two shot in the mag, one in the barrel for three total. To date the repeater rifles all weigh under the 16# goal. Ti actions and ABS barrels are the only way to drop the total weight. If the Mag system im working on pans out, you should be able to make a repeater rifle 12-13#
On another crazy note, i have a customer that wants to build a one of a kind rifle, he wants a caliber that is not avalible. He has the capability to turn his own bullets, so he has come up with a ".383 Christopherson", necked down 408 C-T. 375grn bullets. Have to see if Mike Rock will build him a barrel.
