The gunsmith probably had to adjust your striker/safety engagement length. sometimes they just don't quite mate up and need a slight polishing, sanding and polishing, or deburring.
I got tired of the constant pounding on my shoulder when I fired mine.. I put a brake on mine too and now I would never give it up. it is in the same category as the 338 Win Mag. it is very versatile and the selection of projos makes it able to shoot deer all the way up to moose and grizzly bears. all you have to do is trade ammo out. I have used light slugs for cal black bears, 300's for grizz, and moose, loaded down 270 grainers for Elk in big brush country. besides my 270's, my 338's, and my 32 Win Specials, my 375 H&H is always on a hunt or in my truck. I carry 3 guns in my truck.. I always have a winchester lever gun (32 Win Special), and two bolt guns (270 or 338) and my 375 H&H. that is if I am going up for deer, elk or moose.. my hog killing threesome is 444 Marlin lever, 375 H&H, and 338 Win Mag. deer is 444 marlin (Ohio and straight wall cases only), 32 W/S, 270 Win or 270 WSM depending on terrain. solid brush (Win Lever), open fields Tikka 270 win, spot and stalk thick woods with little undergrowth Win 70 Featherweight carbine 270 win, spot and stalk with variable shots from 50 yards to 500 yards (Kimber 8400 Montana 270WSM). might get some brisk arguments on my selection but I do not care.. everyone is entitled to their opinion on calibers/cartridges. these are just mine.
