WTB Glock 20,40 or sw 329pd

Sorry, I do not have one for sale but I recently purchased a Glock 40 MOD for the exact same reason as yours. I used to carry a .44 Mag. 10MM is an excellent choice, not sure if you have seen this post >>> https://www.longrangehunting.com/threads/10mm-as-a-hunting-round-for-medium-size-game.235983/

I only went through a box of 180s but very pleased with it so far. Although I shoot the .44 Mag well, I've always wanted a 10MM and this video helped "me" in my decision-making process ...

Good luck!

Nice job Fennix...well presented!

Yeah, gotta get that extra 5% the 10mm gives:rolleyes:

Not sure about the math there.

.40 with 200gr hardcast @ 1000fps has 444ft/lb
10mm w/ 200gr hardcast @ 1250fps has 694ft/lb
I am bad with numbers but it sure looks like the 10mm 25% more velocity and 54% more energy.

Same length barrels? Probably not.

Is a 10mm more powerful? Sure. Is it such a giant step step up from a .40 to day the .40 is short and weak? Not really. You can run heavier bullets in the 10mm for sure but getting them going fast enough starts to make poly guns do not nice things...

Hey no dis on your favorite cartridge but the reloading books are not actual data by a far stretch.
Underwood loads that 180gr XTP to 1300fts in a 10mm a similar 40cal load is 1100 fps

Also, no one said anything about poly barrels so I see no reason at all to bring them into a comparison of calibers. That is firearm design and is a concern when using soft lead bullets not hard cast and not jackets. Both calibers are readily available is different types of rifled barrels.

If I person wants a gun for bears, the 10mm is an excellent option. Is a .40 good enough? Maybe. Is a 10mm a lot more powerful than a .40? Yes, about 25% faster and 50% more energy. Are most current factory 10mm loads anemic? Yes is a 10mm the best caliber to hunt bears with? No. Is tge 10mm more powerful than all other handgun cartridges? Not by a long

The choice of bear pistols is always going to be a personal compromise between weight, power, recoil, speed, reliability, etc.

Personally I think a person is far better off with a gun they ate familiar with and practice with than a cannon they aren't/don't.

Load data doesn't matter but your best facts are what a box says? .40 is far from any kind of favorite caliber for me, I just think 10mm is way over rated.

Go with what you know is a better argument than 10mm being a good bear gun. Capacity for more rounds because your not confident of getting hits is a better argument. I just have this feeling guys carrying 10mm are the same guys that carry 9mm because "bullet design in the last 30 years make energy less important and the 9mm does more damage than a 50 bmg now". It's a logical fallacy when the same guys trash .40.
