Howdy, my favorite caliber is anything .264 . For close to 40 years my favorite was 264Wm. still right there with the 6.5-300Weatherby. I smile every time I shoot either one or any of them. If I want to put a smile on my face or as you put it everyday shooter it would definitely be my custom built 264 Wm. .

Barrel change is all you need to do to put a smile on your face .
Best hunting cartridge I've ever used = .340 Weatherby. Killed everything I ever shot at with 1 round. From whitetails in a treestand at 30 yards to Dall Sheep at 450 yards, outstanding game round!
Here is another .264 fan. And he walks around with a smile on his face.
I love anything Weatherby! I'm a lefty & have a 378 & 416

If I'm at the range working on trigger control, etc. I'd say my .308. If I'm in the mountains with a pack on my back looking to tip a critter over, I'll most likely be toting my 300WM.
That would start another thread, to ask what all different Weatherbys we have.
