velocity ups and downs

I ma shooting a Sauer model 100 9.3x62 and I see velocity changes and can't figure it out. I am shooting 255 gr CEB Safari Raptors that are tipped. I measure every load on my electronic and balance beam scale to the 1/10 grain. Brass is Norma and gets annealed every other loading powder I'm using is CFE223 63.0 grains primers are CCI 200. Due to recoil I use a Lee crimper and crimp 1/16 to 1/8, all brass is full length sized. I shot 11 rounds yesterday and you will see and I will post the speeds and I see a couple good then low. 2587,2571,2547*,2586,2578,2546*,2519*, 2553*,2572,2581,2553* I am thinking I may need to change to CCI 250 or go to Federal standard or try Magnums. I think someone here has more knowledge than me might have an idea. accuracy is good with these loads. Ihave been loading for about 45 years and this bugs me. I have never tried to use mandrels in the necks, I do not know anything about those. Thanks for the help

That is an average of 2563 and Standard Deviation of 21.

Not the worst I've ever seen. I like single digit SD's

Are the brass all exactly the same length? I didn't see where you are trimming. If you are crimping, you need the same exact length to be consistent.

With the ball type powder I would likely try a hotter primer. Could also be that you are out of the sweet spot just a bit on the load.

For that cartridge I wouldn't worry about it. Let the target tell you if it's a problem.

You're getting too wrapped up in this. How a 9.3X62 is used, you got nothing to worry about but how it shoots. SD of 20s is what I get out all my AR precision platforms and they are still drilling. If you don't like that advice, Switch to Varget. I ran varget for my 9.3X62 250gr NAB loads with great success.

With the ease & affordability of radar chronographs all the sudden sd became a major issue.

Plug your cartridge into hornady's balistics ap, with 9.3 your max range is what 250 yards? I'll bet 1mph of wind matters more to group size than 100 fps does.

I almost got trapped in that rabbit hole with my 223 loads, but even with sd's in the 20's my groups are sub 1/2 moa out to 300 yards.

When i can hit squirrels and skunks at 300 easily, that's good enough for a $.30 per pop round.

I wish mine was .30, I am at about 2.50 per pop

I would suggest your issue is powder choice, nothing more.
There are powders perfectly suitable for that cartridge, I used 286g bullets with 760/H4350/RL15 in mine, shot ok, but, nothing better than .75MoA, average with a RN bullet for DG was 1.5MoA and solids opened up to 2MoA.
I had better results with my 338-06, so I moved it on.

I agree with the majority here. I only use my chronograph for my own info and to get an idea as to where to start in getting my DOPE.

I agree with others; if it shoots well, don't fret. You probably aren't shooting at 800 yards, so why the concern? And speaking of that, my 7 PRC probably has an SD in the teens (I haven't calculated it recently). Extreme spread is 2890 to about 2930, with most between 2900 and 2915. As I have said before, impact on the target doesn't always line up with velocity. I shot my PRC throughout the day today. Here are the results:

763 yards:
V: 2898.3 wind 1 mph to right. SIG 10K said 14.25 E and .5 W; held that, hit the upper left portion of my 3" aiming square
V: 2918.7 wind was blowing toward me from 11 to 1, sometimes more. Shot when it was to the right. Held 14.25/.75 hit 3" high 2" left.
V: 2928.7 wind was 10 to the right. Sig said 14.5/2.75. Held 14.5/2.5, hit 2" left of upper corner of 3" aiming square

623:
V: 2903.7 wind was all over from 11 to 1. Shot when it was from 11. Held 10.25/1. Hit dead center of aiming square.
