So which vectronix you trying next, and what cartridge and ranges are you shooting that the terrapin can't handle your needs. If you don't mind me asking.

The Terrapin has ranged everything I've asked it to out of my back window out to 3K yards. Very nice rangefinder, no complaints. I just like to try new equipment and can't justify keeping both.
The terrapin has no output and no angle function. I would like to eventually slave the rangefinder to a PDA and FFS software.

I see , that would be a nice and get you your firing solution in record time. The terrapin advertises ranging capabilities out to 2400 meters with +- 1 yard accuracy I'm guessing. But I hear of people ranging objects out to 3500 yards with them (large objects). Do you know what their accuracy is +- past the advertised 2400 meters advertised?

I was pinging stuff at well over 4000 yards with mine and got repeatable results. Weather or not those results were accurate or not is another question.

I'm going to have to buy one these in the near future you would think they would give you a little more than 5X to range objects at 2500 yards.
