Basically, but its not the same look you get when you ask if theres any primers becouse they know what that is.

Is this the H870 replacement or is and what is the differance?

I know US 869 is a "ball powder" but I don't know about H870. A look at Hodgdon's site would resolve that. H870 is a couple powders lower on the burn chart so it's just a tad faster burning powder.

I can tell you 869 doesn't burn fast enough to shoot 250 gr bullets from my edge. with 110 gr (compressed) of powder i still can't get as much speed as h1000. i've heard a couple on here say it works very well with the 300's which i assume have more barrel time.

Yep, 869 was intended to be a replacement for WC870. Thus the close number.

All things came together in my 338 RUM, a 26" sporter barrel, pretty much stock except for the Holland QD.

101 gr - US-869
Fed 215s
300 SMK

2732 +/- .5fps for 10 shots average.

No case stress....

But, darn, not quite Edge velocities........
