URSA is Looking for More Regional Directors

Hello, All:

URSA, the Unlimited Range Shooters Association, has been holding UR (unlimited range) shooting events since May of 2015, 39 events to date, all in California. The organization is not California-only, and never has been. We have attempted over the years to move URSA beyond California and we even, at one point, had a Regional Director for Spain. Several people considered URSA for their areas but none got as far as holding an actual event. We are again making a call to those interested in taking charge of an URSA Region. Available regions, and the state(s) they cover, are listed at http://www.unlimitedrange.org/contacts.html

Here's what we're looking for in a Regional Director (RD):
  1. Maturity with a strong commitment to do what is needed to succeed.

  2. Willing to do the research, scouting, and site arrangement tasks needed to establish and "manage" an URSA venue/venue relationship - enough physical venue for targets at, at least, 2000 and 2500 yards.

  3. Willing to manage events (act as the Match Director or Co-Match Director); no less than 4 events per year, monthly events highly preferred.

  4. Willing to manage the physical resources (targets and "hit indicators" for at least two distances, one target per distance) – store, transport, setup/take-down, and maintain.

  5. Willing to act as the key point of contact for the Region.

  6. Willing to promote events at the local level.

  7. If steel is the selected target material (preferred), share expenses for the steel (two targets); if paper targets, pay for target frame materials/fabrication.

  8. If paper targets are used, provide (and share costs for and maintain) "target cameras" for hit identification, two units.
What will URSA do to facilitate:
  1. Share expenses for the steel; or pay for paper targets. [For steel - buy out at the other party's shared cost, if the relationship is terminated.]

  2. Provide (lend) hit indicators and manage replacement, as needed (for steel targets).

  3. Share costs for "target cameras", two units (for paper targets). [Buy out at the other party's shared cost, if the relationship is terminated.]

  4. Promote events through forum posts.

  5. Manage sign-ups using online form processing.

  6. Process result data, maintain stats, and post event recaps (forum posts).

  7. Facilitate events proper, including providing release forms (online) and score sheets (PDF), and being available by telephone to answer questions in real time (prior to, during, and subsequent to events).
NOTE: This is a totally non-compensated "position". Some money handling may be required if venue needs to be rented (100 percent shooter funded) – collection and payment to the venue owner. California events have all been no-cost/no-fee from day one.

I will be in Vegas and attending SHOT Show from Monday evening (1/22) thru mid-day Friday (1/26), at which time I can meet with interested parties.

If interested in discussing further, please e-mail me at [email protected]. Thanks you for your consideration.
