Can someone please tell me why suppressors cost so much? I can't for the life of me figure it out.
Materials can't be that expensive and the technology has been around for years. Assembly doesn't take that much time I would imagine. Seems to me like an extremely overpriced item.
Maybe once things clear up with all this bureaucratic nonsense in the house and senate the prices may drop. Otherwise...earplugs are a lot cheaper!

If you actually owned one and hunted with one you'd pay twice as much and get rid of the cheap earplugs. I used to say the same thing until I actually tried one. Now I won't shoot without one.
And to the above , i will add that the machine time involved in making a quality can isnt cheap.

I have one that the core is 3D printed out of titanium. The price of the machine for that alone about made me have a stroke. That's not figuring in the R&D, the material, paying the guy to program it, ect ect.

Sorry but I've been around machine shops my entire career making intricate parts and I don't buy that for a second. A good CNC machine can make hundreds of parts easily in short order with little hands on after programming. And assembly isn't that hard. There's no way they should cost more than $300.

So make us some $300 cans. I'll be your first customer.

Shooters/hunters ask why does it cost so much to make a Custom Rifle or Thread a Barrel or any GS Work!!! Go and start a Gunsmith Shop, get a building/space, buy a Lathe, Mill, Saw, Cerakote equipment. The buy all the tooling, gauges, and have twenty-forty years of experience. The get all the licenses/permits and take on Liability. Then you have all the expenses electric/heat/air/taxes. LABOR COSTS
An old saying is "I am going to make a million dollars after I spend two million".

Artificial market. People in the industry have put such a high praise on them they have everyone thinking they are worth it. They aren't. And they haven't fooled me. If I could I'd give mine away.

This is being done where it's legal. And boy the hate those guys get for not arbitrarily charging $1300 for a $400 product is insane. Why help people when these supressor companies can stick it to the morons by the millions. There's endless amounts of people standing in line thinking they are getting a good deal, when in reality it's the opposite.
