Suppressor on mountain rifle

Do you think it's worth it on a lighter gun (5-6 lbs)considering you pay a premium for the oz saved on the gun.
Will be used in the whitetail woods as well.

If you can swing it, always. It all comes down to weight and balance though. I don't mind a 9 pound rifle, so a 6 pound rifle with a 1.5# scope and a 3/4# suppressor sounds like a great combo if it balances well.

Not for me - I take everything off and sight in and hunt with no brake and/or no suppressor.

It is worth it to me. If you have more than one hunter, you may be able to shoot an animal from a group and not spook the others away. I have pretty bad hearing loss also, so I try to always use a suppressor.

I have a 7.0 oz hunting suppressor.
It offers minimal sound suppression.

I would recommend getting a bit heavier model with the BEST SOUND SUPPRESSION available.

As long as it is reasonably short overall. Not a big fan of longer barrels with a suppressor for hunting. I have a 20" 6.5 PRC that will be paired with a 5" suppressor

I went with the TBAC Dominus. Titanium, 9.6 ounce, 6.5" length. Running on a 20" 300wsm.

choose your can wisely though. I have a silencerco omega 30 which is awesome for suppression, but is 8" long and 15oz. Keep it short and light if you're able to.

I have a few suppressors. They are a game changer.
I only have 2 rifles now that go without one.

This is a game of trade-offs. Larger and longer for better sound suppression, shorter and lighter for better handling.

All of my most recent builds are 16-18" barrels for managing overall length while suppressed.

Things to look for -

- reputation of the manufacturer
- warranty of the can
- barrel length and caliber restrictions

I've found that multiple cans for more specific applications has been the path I've gone down. Good luck, your ears will thank you.
