Went shooting today at Rockvale Gun Club.

Test run of a Mod 70 7mmRemMag 26" I bought recently and some Hornady Heavy Mag 139 SST ammo. Wow. 1" groups at 200yrds( didint know I could shoot that good) were the norm. I am totally impressed by their 36.00 a box ammo( I bought 5 ). Altho... I found out it's best NOT to burn thru 10 rounds without a bbl cool down after three rounds as the thing gets blazin hot from the 3250fps ammo. I think I have finally found the gun of my dreams( replacing my long ago sold 110LH 264WinMag ). My mod 70 aint a lefty but I can deal with that ( anything for a 26" bbl ). Cant wait to try it on a 500 or 600 yrd target ( I hope it's brown ).

Also sighted in my Rem 721 06 withthe 1.5-5 Nikon I installed. I bore sighted it off the kitchen table. Took me three shots at 100 yrds to get er 2" high. Love that scope.

Also sighted in wife's 110 06. Another three shot sight in with her new Nikon 3-9x40.

Today was a GOOD day, and I dont have a lot of them when i go shooting.

I shot the HM 139sst for couple of years 'til I found a factory ammo that beat them hands down and cheaper too, $30.00 box.

Just as fast, less recoil and still shoots 1" @ 200 but with a much better bullet.

Double Tap Ammo's 7mm mag loaded to 3,250 with Nosler 140 Accubond.

They also have a 160 Accubond loaded to 3050 fps.

All of Mike McNetts (Double Tap Ammo) advertised speeds have been spot on for me.

THanx for the info on the lower priced ammo. I'll sure give it a try next time I send off an order. I like flat and fast but cheaper is good too.

$36.00 a box ???

You boys need to start RELOADING !!!

Holy cow.... won't take ya long to pay off a Rockchucker package at those prices.....

You get lots more enjoyment out of shooting too !!!!

:) I've been reloading since 1971( was an FFL gun dealer then too). I cant make reloads that shoot like Hornady SST-139 at the moment. Since I am afflicted with severe carpal tunnel tennis elbow and arthritis reloading is something thats almost out of the picture for me as the repetitveness just about makes my hands fall off.
