Small/Large rifle primers?

Can anyone tell me the difference between small and large rifle primers? basically, m wanting to know if there are specific casings in which you use small primers and large ones? example: I'm starting to reload for my .223/5.56 and my 30-06. Do i need to buy small primers for my .223 and large primers for my 06?

yes those primers are different the size is distinctive you can tell just by looking at them

Much of the time the reloading manual will show LRP or SRP for the large or small primers. Most any of the big name reloading manuals include very informative reading about the reloading process.
