Thanks! This is a 7mm Dakota in a 26" McGowan barrel shooting the 180 grain berger at 3125 fps, nightforce 5.5-22x50 with moa retical, Alpine Gunworks chassis, Atlas Bipod. Rifle weights 12lbs as you see it.
That rock is about 3' tall but that's a guess. I should of measured it with the retical.
The conditions were different on each shot and the bullet is coming in at such a steep angle that you loose the bullet trace at the end of its flight. On the third shot I was holding to the left since I felt there was going to be more wind needed hence the miss. My point of aim was the center/upper part of the rock since I noticed you couldn't see your hits as well if they were placed lower in the shadows.
Thanks! You know I was shooting 75 grains but every two firings I had to use the body die to bump the shoulder. I backed off to 74.5 and I bet I'll still have to bump the shoulder after two or maybe 3 more firings but we will see. This lot of brass is on its 8th reload, the necks have been annealed once, and shoulders have been bumped twice. I feel that if you reduce pressure and don't let the barrel get too hot with H1000 being a slow burning powder you can get more life out of your barrel. I will probably drop down to 74 grains if I have to work the brass too much. Even 3100 fps with the 180 grain Berger is plenty fast. At 1K it gets there fast and is pretty flat.
