I've recently acquired a savage 110 precision 338 Lapua and I'm wanting to change the bolt body to a fluted body. My question is will a standard long action bolt body work or do I need one specialized for the 338 LM?

sorry don't know much on savage arms only have a model 24 and two 99 's . The 338 LM is a super round good luck with your new toy !
Why not just send the current bolt for fluting?

No one close by that does it and price wise it's just as cheap or cheaper than having original bolt fluted. Glades has a long action fluted bolt body for $100 and has exceptional reviews, but not sure if it'll work.
That's why I said send it for fluting. Depending on who is doing it, the price is ~$100 (Kampfeld Custom). There are plenty of members here who have used Kampfeld for their fluting needs.

with the cartridges being a different length of a long action (say 300wm) and the 338lm the bolt bodies should be a different length. i don't have that version you do, but do have wm's and a lm in the 110 actions. maybe this could help answer...............both have/use cip length mags (3.850") as which both might use the same body lengths? i'd need to do a side-by-side looksie to be sure.
i'm in the same situation as there's no one close to me for gunsmith work of any kind. was at 1 time before he moved.
