Firing pin issue?
I have small primer Lapua brass in 6.5 creedmoor that I shoot out of my model 12 Savage and every 10 rounds or so my firing pin will pierce a federal 205 primer, with a light load of H 4350 of 40.8 grains, it has never done this with my large rifle primer loads with two or more grains of powder, my gun smith says there is nothing wrong with the firing pin. Should I be using harder primers or primers that are not as tall so the firing pin doesn't strike it as hard? Has anyone else had a similar problem perhaps even with the same rifle? I know different brands of brass will have less volume but in Peterson, federal, hornady I have never experienced this with large rifle primers. Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks Gene
