Hey guys, I just joined the site today. I've got a ton of useful information from it already, so i figured I'd join up!
I recently bought a Savage model 11 with accutrigger. My plan is to barrel it to chamber 6.5X55 swede relatively soon. I'm having trouble finding stocks for it though. I'm not really interested in "tacticool" stocks, or anything like that. I'm just wanting to build a good accurate rifle to shoot long range with. Any advice on stocks for this rifle would be appreciated. Also any input on other aspects of the build would be helpful also. Thanks guys.
(by the way, I've already decided on a Shilen stainless barrel chambered for 6.5X5swiss in varmint profile) gun)

Do you have a blind magazine or the detachable magazine?

There are several places that offer stocks for Savage's,but if you have and want to keep the detachable magazine, there are few choices, but you can have the stocks inletted for the bottom metal.

For Laminated wood stocks look at Boyd's or Stocky's Stocks websites. Sharp Shooter's Supply also makes them.
For Composite stocks look at Choate,Bell & Carlson,H & S Precision,Stockade Custom Guns,Manners,or McMillan.

91 veiws and not one person with any advice? wow..

Not everyone sits in front of a computer all day, have you considered that most of us are at work when you posted? Patience is a virtue! lightbulb

The more detail you can provide in your queries the easier for others to jump in and contribute.

Anyways, there are plenty of thread about Savage builds and the search on the top right is your best friend.

Here's my Savage project last year for some ideas to consider >>> http://www.longrangehunting.com/forums/f22/my-budget-270-ai-97745/

Good luck!

So, you can replace the detachable mag with one that isn't?
