    Hi guys..,
    Im trying to understand recoil better so if .....
    308 with 150 grain
    30-06 with 150 grain
    Both 3000 fps
    Rifles the same and with 26 inch barrel

    How would the recoil be?

    Let me know if i need to specify more or rephrase the question... thanks for the input

    Here is a fun calculator;

    http://www.handloads.com/calc/recoil.asp

    The 308 will be using fortysomething grains of powder. The 30-06 will be using fiftysomething grains, and this will make some difference in recoil energy and felt recoil.

    Cheers! Recoil is inertia, so it has everything to do with

    weight of the bullet x muzzle velocity.

    The thing to remember is powder is part of the ejected mass, so it must be included with the weight of the bullet.

    Behind the rifle, we are not feeling the force of explosion, so much as the resistance of the mass we're pushing.
