Sako A5 actions

I was thinking about taking my sako a5 and adding a longer barrel. Then I thought might as well get a new stock for it too. How would you guys rate a sako action compared to say a Rem 700 action? Is it worth the money to rebarrel and add it to a new stock or should I just save my money?
Rifle is a 270 and shoots well with a 22" barrel but I think it could do better with a few new bells and whistles
