In comparing different scopes, I have picked out the Z6 3x18x50 BT over most other manufacturers (Leupold, NF, etc). The one thing that is causing me to continue to debate this is the lack of range on the scope.

I don't envision myself shooting over 500 or so on game but would like to practice at longer ranges...I haven't really considered S&B, but looking at their Precision Hunter 4x16x50, which is MOA based clicks.

What are the advantages of one vs the other for my use? For those who have considered similar scopes, what tipped you to one vs the other?

If you are already spending that amount of dollar on scopes, you might as well go for the S&B PMII. Thats one of the best scopes in the world. I has a bunch of elevation, glass is second to none, and it is super reliable. It does everything a scope should do. Swarovski has superb glass, but thats pretty much it. If you will only shoot 500 yards or less, you dont need more elevation. However, if you really want to stretch your gun, get a S&B PMII.

Just look carefully at S&B warranty, they are not very long and I have had one fail three times by fogging and you could have bought a brand new American scope for the money they wanted to fix it.

Ouch! Never dreamed S&B wouldn't warranty repair fogged scopes.

They did the first two times, but the third time they didn't because it was out of their warranty period, I think most American manufactures would have just given you a new scope. ( ever heard of three times and your out ).
