TC venture gets my vote, 5r rifling, nice trigger and accuracy guarantee. mine shoots cheap ammo under an inch and my hand loads are touching. This is all from a rifle that I took out of the box put scope on and did a barrel break in....

Thompson needs to stick with break-action rifles, like what earned them their reputation, just like S&W never should have made bolt-action rifles... And I'm one of the biggest S&W revolver fans there is. But they got way out of their league.

Model 700 for me. Lot of options out there for aftermarket stocks and accessories and the 700 is the most accurate and effective non-custom factory action ever made so if a re-barrel is ever down the road, the Model 700 is the action to have. Out of the box the 700 will shoot around MOA. With a little free floating and a bedding job you will be under 1/2 MOA.

By the way everyone, I don't want to turn this into a haters thread, this is just how I feel on the subject. If you don't agree with me, don't attack me for answering Semper Fi's question. I believe the 700 is always the way to go, if you disagree say what you prefer don't jump up and down over what I said.

I don't know how they got way out of there league I bought one and didn't have to put several hundred dollars in it to get it to shoot like most of my

buddies had to do with there Remington's bedding, free floating, lapping etc.most of them realized they spent to much money getting those Remingtons to shoot just to have a bone stock TC, Ruger Americans and Savage's out shoot them.....

I don't want to argue but come on. I seriously doubt any bone stock TC, Ruger, or Savage is going to outshoot a properly bedded and floated Remington. Unless they shoot 3/8in groups, they're not going to be close to my Remingtons. Even a bone stock Remington shoots MOA. Either their Remingtons aren't bedded or floated right or your buddies can't shoot.

I don't see any factory unmodified rifle shooting 3/8 groups, I'm sorry but I would like to see some true 100yd groups from that TC that prove its accuracy. I'm not afraid to shoot against anybody either especially the people who think they can shoot at my local range when in reality Minute of Milk Jug is good enough for them. They're 700s should shoot one hole like mine do and mine are only bedded and free floated, not blue printed or lugs lapped and aftermarket recoil lugs, etc. If I were them I'd try some different loads or something because something isn't right there...

i have read a lot of things i like about the tc. i do have a 700 30-06 i got in 1980 it has never given any trouble. havent done any mods to it. it shoots well but my tikka is just flat more accurate however in 25-06 tikkas only get a 22.7/16 barrel just saying.

The only way to prove it is video or in person, mine is 3006 I use 52gr. Imr 4350 200gr. Smk... antibody can put a picture on the internet and say what ever they want but it could be the only 3/8in group that was at the range that day. I don't put any faith in posted target pics. But any way I know what my rifle can do and you know what your rifle can do so if we ever meet at a range we can have a friendly competition. OK. I don't want to get into a ****in match over rifle brands or my buddies abilities to shoot or bed rifles they are mostly Vietnam vets that I have a lot of respect for they can out shoot me with my own rifle. They take shooting very seriously every Saturday we meet for 1000 yard matches I have learned a lot from those guys... I would like to call a truce.????

Ya truce buddy. I'm getting tired of these rifle brand arguments anymore haha, they happen to often. I have a huge respect for all vets including your buddies. What caliber rifles are they shooting at 1000yds?

Sounds like some awesome rigs. I'm surprised that .260 doesn't shoot amazing, those are normally tack drivers.
