Hoping everyone recognizes this invasion battle is the sole reason we won the war. The loss of life today was staggering and yet these courageous warriors pushed ahead into deadly fire.

I stood in several of these bunkers in June 1994, the 50th anniversary of the invasion and was overwhelmed by the thought of how many men were slaughtered from the very spot I stood. The cemetery of white crosses perfectly aligned was both sobering and an emotional experience I believe every American should go through. The caissons still on beaches, wrecks in ocean both watercraft and vehicles. It doesn't take much imagination to see in your mind how these men fought through such formidable odds to break through and start the retaking of France.

If you ever have a chance to go there, I highly recommend.

Freedom isn't FREE!

God bless America!

We cannot allow battles for freedom to fade away. Please take the time to discuss with whomever to keep these memories alive. Our parents and grandparents fought and died to preserve our freedoms.

I received this book as a gift from the plant I was visiting while in Normandy along with a detailed battle map. Amazing and heart wrenching all at the same time.

My mother was working in Mobile, AL at the time. When word came that the invasion was underway, she said you could hear a pin drop on the streets. So many people either had a loved one or knew someone over there. They knew SOMETHING was going to happen soon but didn`t know where or when.

I spent some time talking to my daughter and her boyfriend yesterday about D-Day and Normandy. Her boyfriend had recently visited Normandy and was emotionally moved by the visit. We all need to keep the sacrifices of the greatest generation fresh in the minds of the younger generations. Life would be very different today if not for the heroics and selflessness of theses fine people.

If we, as a nation, are threatened to the extent that we were then I`d like to think that the younger generations of this country would stand up like that one did. I wish I could be more confident in that than I am.

Corrupt leadership inspires no one to follow. The utter lack of transparency has many of the mind "I'll believe (insert country) is a threat when i see it". Only some old farts like us perceiving we are already at war with China, cartels, and others.

"D" Day is today.
If not for "D" Day and all the sacrifices of the men, woman, and families we may not have the Freedoms that we have today. The world may look a lot different. Over 2,500 US Service Men died at that Battle. The Movie Saving Private Ryan with the Beach Landing scene was just a fraction of the Truley pure HELL for US Service Men and Allied Forces.
The USA and the World should be having HUGE celebrations today.
God Bless America!!!!🇲🇾

Europe is doing exactly what we should be doing. 🤷🏻‍♂️ .

Why aren't we recognizing this world changing day in history?

50 years ago, would run across a real WWII veteran that could tell some of the not so serious/fun tales they had fighting the War. This ole boy had to drive a WC Dodge 4x4 heading North thru Italy and they were warned to use caution when filling their canteens. For weeks, he said they liked to stop at nearby local vineyards and fill the canteens with wine from casts, because they knew it was safe to drink. Hellcat pilot told if they didn't use up all their planes ammunition before returning to the ship,, they would fly over a nearby Jap island for a bit of random strafing practice.

I don`t care how young one might have been or how gung ho, to step out of the door of a rocking C-47 into pitch black ( except for the light of shell bursts! ), not knowing what was awaiting you on the ground.....if you made it to the ground.......took Big.....Brass......Ones!! And those men ( boys age wise many of them, but they were men! ), so many years later would say something like, " Well, we were just doing what had to be done " or " It was just our jobs ", to which I respectfully say BS!! They were heroes every one and as far as I`m concerned, doing God`s work.
