looking for gunsmith to re barrel 338 Norma. Want a smith that has built 338 Norma. I want to shoot 300 gr Berger. Like a barrel 27'' or 28''. I hope to get vel. at 2850. Thanks for info. Joe

Try switching powder to R26. You will gain approximately 200FPS easily. I was shooting 2750FPS with a 300gr SMK and H1000. I used the same amount of powder with the R26 and am getting 2965FPS with no change in pressure signs.

Just a thought instead of a new barrel.
