Just curious as to what the consensus would be to have a spotter that could be used to range (ffp) versus a riflescope with ranging reticle and a laser guide- along with a spotter without a reticle.

I have a swaro laser and am looking to upgrade to a Nightforce for next year and pick up a quality spotter to go along with it. I like the Swaro units but would like to have the ability to range in case the laser goes down. Of course there is always the scope to use as a back up. Just want to have the bases covered.

Thanks for the advice in advance!

The Laser is the only way to go.

My experience says that there is too much variation in body size and/or hair roughed up to get an accurate range w/a reticle.

For spot on performance I've found the Laser to be more reliable for ranging.

Just one guy's opinion...............
