QL is a great program, has a healthy learn curve. Once you learn it, I have found it very helpful.

There is a nearly identical program FREE for use to QuickLoad called Gordon's Reloading Tool. I've cancelled my QL subscription since late 2019 and used this exclusively. If you didn't know better you'd swear they are one and the same..... https://grtools.de/doku.php?id=start

Except that the Gordon's tool does not output the correct barrel times.

Because when you enter the correct inputs the output is wrong. As far as "how so" you would have to ask the people who wrote the program.
Genuinely curious, screenshot some examples and point them out

Search "QuickLOAD is a reloading tool, rite?" on this sight. I learned a lot about using it when I posted that thread, and I go back every so often and re-read it.
I use it to predict starting loads only, as a person can make it lie. Haven't experienced that, but garbage in, garbage out, and that pretty much sums up my own computer knowledge.

To think I started with a spiral Lyman reloading manual and a Spartan single stage press. Not to mention that setup actually won matches. OMG have things changed since the 60's. LOL. Yet I still have the Spartan Press and original loading manual! 
Not to mention that the same Old IMR Powders still perform just as well as the did way back when. Guess I'll be a .30 caliber shooter till the day I pass.

Well, it looks like Sierra is an external ballistics program... QL is, I believe, an internal ballistics program, so, two different tools.

QL is cool in that we can develope loads for cartridges that have very limited to no information available for them. I bought it to try different combinations in a 33XC, which at the time had only Mr. Tubb's website supporting it, with, like, 2 bullets and 3 powders. Worked great, after some coaching from some folks on here.
Now, I have acquired another wildcat cartridge, and without QL, I'd be lost.

Here is a screen shot of a 300 WM load I made using the overbore related weighting factor. The Barrel time is 1.256. From the tables node 5.5 would be 1.266 ms. This is a 0.8% difference. This is a 5 shot target at 100 yds with this load. Changing the powder weight a bit in either direction does not give this result. I would love to see someone else provide some kind of result comparing OBT barrel time with a target result. I have things like this for all my rifles. Anyone who wishes can take this data and run it through Gordons. Gordons uses a single Seibert factor for all examples of a given cartridge. I change the weighting fiactor for any cartridge example with a different water case capacity.
