Premier Reticles - Tactical & Light Tactical

Thanks for the link. Wish I was closer I'd definitely pop in to check out the scopes. High end scopes huge pitfall for me is not being able to get side by side comparisons. I'm looking in the 5-25x range the Premier never quite leaves my thinking, but also never seems to overtake the others in my mind. The S&B comparison was helpful. Have you had opportunity to side by side it with the Nightforce ATACR, or what what do consider the advantages of the Premier.

The ATACR is a non-starter for me.

It's only available in 2nd focal plane reticle, and has the same archaic zero stop adjustment as the rest of the nightforce line, which forces you to take the turret off, exposing the grease beneath to the dirt, and then index 4 little tiny screws.

The BEAST is the closest nightforce has come to getting it right in a 5-25, however the little +/- .1 mil lever again makes it a non-starter for me. It's innovative, but not intuitive.

S&B doesn't seem to be able to get their quality control figured out. We've had no less than a dozen S&B's come through our shop in the last month, and some have good clicks, while others don't. Some have a "grinding" noise when manipulating the parallax, others don't. Some have a magnification ring that is hard to turn, others don't. I've seen no less than 6 S&B PMII's go down in the last 6 months. The number one problem: They refuse to track. Turn the turret, and nothing happens. If you watch the video, you can easily see the deficiencies of the S&B turrets compared to Premier.

There is only one other optic that I would consider running on my distance rifles other than Premier, and I emphasize "consider." The Cassidian Hensoldt 3.5-26x56 is another great optic with very few shortcomings. However, they aren't available yet, and are looking to get $4000 a piece when they finally are!

In the last year, the group that I shoot with has had optics from every top manufacturer fail in some regard. I've been running Premier optics since late 2008/early 2009. I have yet to find another scope that allows me the speed and accuracy of adjustment that I get with the Premier. I shoot DTA's mostly, so I love the external zero stop adjustment.

The Premier is a great scope! I've owned a 5-25x56 for a few years and IT IS A TANK of a scope. Feel free to CRANK, TWIST, and TORQUE this scope - it can take it, and won't lose zero. I shot this on my 338 Lapua and it was a champ. My impression of the scope is WAY over built, HIGH attention to detail, and EXTREME endurance. Premier, S&B, Leupold and USO (I've owned them all plus many others) are the handful of scope manufacturers that could be considered to provide 'life-long' product,... i.e. scopes that you could reliably hand down to your children or grandchildren.

Assuming they haven't changed their reticle configurations since the sale of their company, the other really neat thing about their 5-25 tactical version is that the reticle thickness on the Gen 2 XR is approx. .076 MOA which is very thin, almost as thin as the Holy Grail of reticles, the NF NPR1. This gives guys the option of having a scope with all the benefits of FFP while still having a very thin reticle for LR aiming. It is a very well designed reticle IMO.

NICE REVIEW!!

Very well done! You should write for us.
Thanks for the offer. :)

You'll have to let me know what that entails exactly. My work is re-published in a few other online and print publications from time to time. Seems they all have their own specific agreements.

Very well done review. Very thorough. Best ive seen. Id buy one in a heartbeat if it were in the budget. Heck id be happy just looking at one..
