Well, finally decided to drink the 6mm/243 Kool Aid. I've never owned a 6mm/.243 anything, so I had to see what all the hype was about and built a 6mm-06. :)

I had a Rem 700, 25-06 that hasn't seen much use lately, so decided to cannibalize the action and build a 6mm-06. Looked long and hard at the 240 Weatherby and 6-284, but decided on the 6-06 since I already had a lots of 25-06 brass and knew it would feed perfectly out of the existing magazine. Can't wait to put some rounds down range. I have 105 Amaxes and VLD's ready to rock.

Specs:

Remington 700 Action
Brux 8 Twist, 26 inch, Rem Sporter Contour
Chamber cut for long bullets
Bell and Carlson Medalist
Zeiss Conquest 4.5-14X44

I too recently purchased a 6mm-06. It's a custom ER Shaw stainless 26" fluted with 1:8 twist. I am shooting SMK 95gr. I absolutely love this cal!

270,

What powder are you using for the SMK 95? Also, what velocity?

Have you shot anything heavier than the 95's?

I'm using IMR 4831
Velocity of 3375
Shoots 1 ragged hole at 200 yrds. I know I'm at the low end of starting load but for me accuracy means more than speed. I'm going to a buddy's house tomorrow to work out a 1000 yrd chart.
