Trying to find a load for my 300WM using 215 Bergers. 75 and 76 grains of H1000.

The 76 seem to shoot really well. I have a hard time judging the looks of fired primers.

How do they look to you?

Thanks

They look fine, but, primer appearance means very little. I have a Pressure Trace, some primers don't show signs of excessive pressure until way over, just the same as brass cases.

What does your chronograph say?

This is more of a better indication of pressure than primer appearance. If you get the same velocity as a manual with 2gr less powder, you are at the same pressure, give or take, as the heavier charge was in their brass, chamber and barrel.

Hope this helps.

Cheers.

Hodgdon lists the 220SMK @ 78 grains of H1000 as max, at 52k cup...

Even with the 215 VLD you'll run into powder room issues with h1000 long before you hit unsafe pressures....
At those powder charges, you'll be around 2680-2750 depending on your barrel.
In all honesty... even if you ran it up harder, what are you going to gain, other than a worse node and more recoil... and less case life.

Chrono the two... see which has better numbers and stick with that.

Here is a picture of the 5-shot group at 100 yards with the 76.0 grains. Can you tell anything? Is this a good group, or should I keep trying some other combo?

Thanks

Id say you're in the chips. The variances are slight.... could be it slightly hotter barrel temps as the shot string goes... but the way that looks to me, is your trigger or your trigger control is the slight issue at hand.
