NY XBow!!

A friend of mine is in his 70's and still shoots his 70 lb bow, but he has to shoot it regularly to stsy in shape or he can't pull it. It'scan awesome bow, a bowtech tomkat. It shoots an arrow at about 300 fps and is eerily silent. Very light as well.

Maybe I'm getting too old or just too soft. I use to spend significant amounts of time scouting and practicing with a bow in the off season. However, like @Varmint Hunter stated I got tired of fighting the blood sucking insects in the warm months. I bought a crossbow after my compounds were stolen (long story). It is definitely easier to shoot at distance (40-60 yards) requiring much less practice IMO. Practice with the compound was rewarding as it is not only significantly improved with the time invested, but also gave me a good workout. The crossbow also requires practice, but I am able to get dialed in much quicker and have yet to injure myself with excessive practice like I did with the compound.

I had to hunt last 2 years with an xbow because of shoulder injury, shot my biggest archery buck last year, 164" 10 pt. While I was excited and happy to do it, it was significantly easier than with a bow and didn't feel the same.

Rehabbed my shoulder and this year hunting with a long bow that I made from hickory tree I cut down, made arrows from multrifloral rose bush, fetching from harvested turkey and homemade broadhead. If successful any deer will be more meaningful than that buck.

I took 1 at 30 yards. double lung, she ran 30 yards. dead. didn't have to wait, just collected my deer. Very challenging. I had to get a good rest on a fence post. Cheap Barnett x-bow I keep cocked all season long. cheap scope.

I could have taken another doe last night, but I'm more selective now that my freezer is full. I'm tempted to do 40-50 yards next.
