I have been heavily involved in bullseye pistol shooting for the last 5 years and decided to get back seriously into rifle shooting.
I shot on the 82d ABN Div. rifle team 1960 - 1961, shot 600 almost every day with a few 1,000 yd matches at Perry and Quantico. This was done with the M1 Garand, iron sights, in fact I have one now.
I acquired a Savage 12 LRP in .260 this week, along with 1,000 Hornady 140 gr A max and 400 Berger 140s. Powder: 2 lbs of IMR Varget, 2 lbs of 4350, 8 lbs of 4064 and 8 lbs of 4831. I think with the last 2 powders I may go to a lighter bullet.
I will be shooting 200 and 300 at my local club and head north for the 1,000 yd shoots. Looks like I will be shooting F class open with this new Savage.
I need a scope and mounts, suggestions are welcome.
