Hey guys just wanted to introduce myself. I've been scanning these forums for a while and finally made a rifle purchase today. My goal is to build a 800 yard gun that might someday be able to take a 1000 yard shot. Nothing to win competitions but just a darn accurate budget shooter. I'm totally new to long range shooting. I've shot hunting rifles, and have done some shooting to 300 yards but that's been it. A little about me, I'm a full time firefighter paramedic, for Michigans capital city, Lansing. And my wife and I are expecting our first, a little girl early spring. Anyways thanks in advance for all the information I've already gotten, and of course the knowledge and info to be had.

Thanks will do It will be a while before I have any range reports. I bought the rifle used from a guy. Remmington 700 VTR, it has a timney trigger, and a magpul stock. He had some glass on it, but offered me a deal without it. As it's not what I'm looking for.

Apparently no relation to Joel Russo of this forum?

Thanks yo buck. I looked at a 6.5 or a 300 win mag. But Injust kept coming back to the .308 for a start up gun. Almost every online source I found recommended a .308 and rem 700 for a beginning set up.

No Dosh, no relation I know of. Unless hes independently wealthy in that case hes probably my long lost uncle!!!

LoL thanks Uncle Joel!! LoL My grandpa always said over in Italy Russo was one of the more common last names.

And thank you Joseph!! Were definitely very excited!! I figure I'll have her rim fire shooting by about 3

Frank,
I'm new to this forum as well. Good luck with your build. Keep us informed as to your progress. I may follow your lead.
Tony
