New .243 opinions on load

I am not sure if this question goes here, but I'll ask anyways- A buddy is building a .243 with a 26" Shilen Barrel 1:8 Twist. He is leaning toward shooting a 105 Berger. Just wondering if someone shoots something similar, maybe some load suggestions to get started.

Well, with that twist it is almost certain that he will do better with heavier bullet weights, maybe 85 gr. and above. That's about as much as any one can say with any conviction.

I shoot the 105 Amax in my 243 with a 26", 8 twist, Rock Creek barrel. Velocity runs just under 2950 fps with 44.4 grs of Re 22 in Win brass lit by Fed 210 primers. While this load is about 1 grn over Hornadys listed max it shows no signs of pressure in my rifle, but approach with caution anyway!!
