Need help....

Im reloading for a 257 wby in an Encore with a MGM barrel. The barrel has a good amount of freebore like most factory Weatherbys. In turn, i cant get NEAR the lands...

So my question is.. How deep do i set? Close to a Factory shell? Use the max COAL in the books?

That should be a minimum coal in the books, so you don't blow up. And Weatherby put all that freebore in there for the same reason. It needs the jump to
keep the pressures down.

All i see is a max COAL, but that really doesnt do me any good....

I use a cartidge OAL tool from Hornady, comparator. This tool used w/case and actual bullet, gives you a distance to lands. Then you can back off from there. Do a search on this site and you will find alot of info
