I have a Borden Denali single shot with a 30" Hart 1-10. Contour is MTU w/1.350 breach and Sidewinder on the end.
Just wondering what kind of velocities should I look for with a 300gr Berger. I own my own Manson reamer that properly places bearing surface of bullet above the donut area.
I have a bunch of N570, also H1000, Retumbo, ect. I don't need any charge weights as I will get that myself for this particular barrel.
Currently our range has well over a dozen steel targets of various sizes between 1130yds and 2000yds.
Any personal experience/info appreciated.

I load and shoot 3 different 338 LAI's, one has a 30 in barrel. 3100 is probably as fast as you are ever going to get without beating the brass up, you may not even get that. I would expect at least 3050 though. I run my 30 in barrel with 106.5 gr. of RE33 at 3050-3065.

RE 33 will be faster than retumbo or H1000 (in my rifle 75 fps).

I have not shot N570, but a good buddy of mine has in his. He tapped out at around 3050, but did not push it hard either. 32 in barrel.

Thanks, was out today to see how much N570 this chambering could handle. I was measuring for case head expansion and I wasn't able to detect any until I got to 104grs. At this point it was between .0005"-.001" at the most. Anyways it was there and my velocity with this amount of powder was 3029'. You were pretty spot on. Would love to try RL33, but who knows when that will be available. Thanks a bunch.

Sorry if I gave the impression "just load her to the hilt and shoot it" 😄
As I did this initial test with just 10 pieces of brass, now I will be working with 99-103 gr with more brass hopefully finding something in the 2900-3000MV range with a good accuracy and SD. I don't have enough RL33 to attempt anything right now. Don't know when that will be available either. Thanks again.

I had great luck with that combination. I was only shooting a 26 inch barrel and I was getting 2900-2950. Although I was shooting an A-Tip. Oddly I started seeing pressure signs just over 99 gr.

I shoot n570 in my edge, but only 262gr hammer bullets.
A powder that might be worth a try is LRT. I ran ~104grs in my edge. Shot fast and grouped great w300 bergers.

Which caliber A-tip are using. I have some 7 mm 190 gr A-tip I need to try out of my 7x300 win mag.

Use N570 a lot in a 338LAI and others. 3050 to 3150 shouldn't be a problem in a long barrel. It's great powder for that chambering. It's a little dirty, but a small price to pay for the performance.
