I wouldn't say I'm a newbie, but I'm far from an expert. Just want to share a recent experience.
I know I'm not alone when I say it's been a frustrating journey trying to get my Christensen Arms rifle to shoot (I left a detailed note of my QC
issues on another thread if you'd like to read more).
But man, after this weekend's range trip I have to give it to this thing.
I've had a good load worked up for it for awhile, but haven't had the chance to do any cold bore testing at distance until now. The results were pretty good in my opinion. Shooting 147 ELD-Ms at a meager 2815fps
Conditions were mild on Saturday, 52 degrees F and a slight 5-6mph from 3 o clock. I know these bullets will spin off more than that amount of wind is going to push them so I held left edge of the 6" swing plate.
Cold bore hit fairly center/low right on the 6" swing in the silhouette and two follow up shots printed a 3.4" group at 800 yards. I'll take 0.4 MOA from a factory gun at that distance any day!
